MY CABIN

A cherished treasure to behold
My fortress, my domain
A cabin set back in the woods
My property to claim.

The seasons come and they go
Their beauty warms my heart
The animals that live here, too
Though close, we live apart.

I watch through the open window
As the chipmunks scamper around
The deer come by…. the bears will, too
They rarely make a sound.

The hush of snow, the falling rain
Up on the old tin roof
The warmth of love…. felt within
My life, my one sure truth.

My paradise, a small abode
Down the old dirt road
Makes me feel so fortunate
It purifies my soul.
