DEADBOLT

Don’t you dare come back for me
You left, you’ve been long gone
Nothing you could ever do
Could fix what you did wrong.

I’ll never let you in…don’t try
There’s a deadbolt on my door
A barricade built ten feet high
Gotta know… what it’s there for.

Don’t think… you can just turn around
Come  back this way again
I’ve gotten over losing you
You’re the same as you were then.

Too many tears, too many lies
I’ve heard it all before
I wasted so much time with you
Won’t do that anymore.

A broken heart that’s torn apart
Mends  slowly over time
You let too many years go by
I nearly lost my mind.

So, don’t you dare come back for me
I’ve got a deadbolt on my door
Built a wall that’s nearly ten feet tall
You gotta know… just what it’s for.
