AN OLD PAIR OF SHOES

You were always so clever
Guess you’ve done this before
You played me, yes …used me
Then walked out the door.

Like an old pair of shoes
You tossed me aside
I couldn’t believe it
I grieved and I cried.

Another sweet face
Had just caught your eye
So easily led
I’ll never know why.

“She’s just a friend”
That’s what you said
“Someone from work
Someone I just met, “

There in a moment
Before my eyes
I’d been replaced
You had cheated, you lied.
