AN OLD PAIR OF SHOES

So clever …. so shrewd
You’ve done this before
You played me …. you used me
Till you become  bored.

Then cast me aside
Like  an old pair of  shoes
Leaving me feeling
Abandoned …. confused.

Never imagined
That you’d walk away
I would do anything
If only you’d stay.

But a new shiny object
Had caught your eye
So easily distracted
So easily you lied.

“She’s  just a friend”
That’s what you said
“Someone from work
Someone I just met.”

But it was all over
As easy as that
No second chances
No going back.
