BROKEN GLASS

I saw you there
Across the room
I’d planned on leaving
Leaving soon.

But, standing there
So all alone
I felt the urge
To take you home.

Something there
Had drawn me in
Something wild
So welcoming.

It felt just like
A roaring fire
The heat of passion
Lust and desire.

You caught my eye
The fix was in
That was it
I saw you grin.

I took your hand
You stole my heart
That was it
Right from the start.

Though passion fueled
It couldn’t last
We burned right through
Just way too fast.

Like broken glass
Too many shards
Hurt so bad

Was way too sharp!

Too much too soon
The thrill was gone
Met someone new
Then you moved on.
