I’m approaching panic mode
Hurry I can’t wait
Let’s go down to the river
It’s frozen, we can skate.
Miles and miles, the tundra
The frozen land of waste
I am feeling desperate
We’ve got to leave this place.
The buckling, the snow drifts
We do our best to muddle through
The sky above so dark and grey
We have to push on thru.
The wolves and the coyotes
Bear witness… we were there
Curious they followed us
From the banks above…. they stared.
Can’t feel my feet, they’re frozen
My eyelids closing shut
My fingers are frostbitten
Someone please, won’t you save us?
We skated down the river
For hours …. who knows where
Before search and rescue
Found us lying there.
The helicopter hovered
Dropped a rope from up above
They put us in a cradle
I could hear a pair of doves.
In my thoughts, outside the window
On the clothesline there below
Sat two enchanted love birds
Gently swaying to and fro.

Wow! I felt, just for a moment, as if it was ME in that snowbank! You are an excellent poet, my friend!

And, you are sweet to say such kind words…
to me! Thank you!!!!
I’ve been away. Went to Portugal for two months! It was wonderful! Didn’t have my laptop and wasn’t able to post on WordPress.
So glad you liked my poem!
Hope you’re doing well and feeling better!
Love and hugs!

Portugal!!! How wonderful! I’m so glad you had a good time, dear friend! I’m doing okay … not really better, but no worse, either. Hanging in. I’m really happy to see you back! And I definitely loved your poem … I only read a few of them, for I was running low on time, but I’ll try to catch up soon! Love ‘n hugs!!!
