SO SAD

I didn’t want to leave you
It hurts more than you know
Don’t want to live without you
But, afraid I have to go.

So much pain and sorrow
I can’t explain the reasons why
My heart is broken, torn apart
It hurts to say goodbye.

I can’t take you with me
I knew it from the start
You couldn’t make the journey
It was going to be too hard.

Your world is in the outdoors
Your home beneath the brush
You’d come when it was dinner time
That’s the way, the way it was.

Can’t bear the thought of losing you
I know that you’re sad, too
Never thought I’d have to walk away
And abandon both of you.

You and your mom have been together
It’s been  almost seven years
At least, I know you’re not alone
That much I know is clear.

The guilt is overwhelming
I’m feeling  hurt, and so ashamed
It’s not anything you ever did
I’m totally to blame.

Though I knew you both were feral
Somewhere deep  within my heart
I wanted to be close to  you
But, now we have to part.

There is a feral colony
I know that it’s nearby
I feel so bad about this
I can’t help but cry.

Wish I could take you with me
Wish I could find a way
Hoping that you’ll be all right
Asking God to keep you safe.

COLD AND CRUEL

Cold and cruel
Vindictive, too
Could it be
I might mean you?

Tried to be
More than a friend
When she showed up
That was the end.

Dropped me the day
That she came back
Had  been away
You both lost track.

Reunited
You reminisced
About the things
That you once did.

But, when your light
Was filled with bugs
You called me up
I came, no grudge.

Came right then
I did my best
Fixed you up
At your request.

No more visits
Stopping in
No more laughs
Or hugs since then.

Coffee drinks
Made for you
Dinners, salads
Desserts, too.

Now I ask
Can you help me?
But, you say “no”
So hatefully.

Your anger
Oh so obvious
Guess I was
Oblivious.

What’s with
The animosity?
Why did you start
Resenting me?

Never turned
Away from you
Was your friend
Was loyal and true.

Thought we were
Such good friends
Like family
Right to the end.

But, I was wrong
It’s clear to me
That you don’t care
What I might need.

The feral cats
Now on their own
No kindness now
None to be shown.

Vengeance
A tough pill to swallow
Never thought
You’d be so shallow.

EACH MOMENT

Time is starting to run out
Gotta make the most of it
Gotta savor each and every day
Every single precious bit.

Like sand runs through the hourglass
Each moment spent with you
Passes by too quickly
I feel it slipping through.

Afternoons spent at the lake
Nothing like a summer breeze
Sitting underneath the tree
Hear the rustle of the leaves.

Holding hands, time together
Special moments spent with you
Counting every minute that we have
Thinking about what we should do.

Take a cruise, or casual stroll
See the Northen Lights
Go abroad….. spend our days
Taking in the sights.

A good life, fond memories
So grateful I found you
Never knew a love so deep
A love so warm and true.

WAY TOO SHORT

She cut my hair way too short
She knew what she was doing
Left me feeling so upset
My social life is ruined.

Pulled me down a rabbit hole
Clip clip, chop chop…. I panicked
She held my fate in her hands
Nothing I could do about it.

She seemed annoyed when I said
Not sure what I should do
She wasn’t putting up with this
Began with a shampoo.

All idle chatter halted
The look upon her face
Knew I was  in trouble
She looked a little crazed.

Quietly I sat there
Watching as she worked
My hair falling to the floor
It was painful, yes it hurt.

I wanted to jump up and say
STOP cutting, it’s too short
But, feared that  she would buzz the rest
The ball was in her court.

Don’t be so indecisive
Make up your mind before you go
Said she wasn’t a Mind Reader
All I can say is…… it will grow.
