ALLERGIES

Irritants and allergies
Creep inside my lungs
They arrive, though uninvited
And, won’t leave until they’re done.

They cause a painful, scratchy throat
A clogged and stuffy nose
My breathing becomes difficult
That’s just the way it goes.

I sneeze, I whine, I blow my nose
More than  a dozen times
But, nothing stops my itchy eyes
Or, this dreadful cough of mine.

Tea with honey helps a bit
It soothes my painful throat
Cough drops from the pharmacy
And, wearing a warm coat.

But, weeks go by without relief
I still feel so bad, so sick
No matter what I try to do
I’m afraid …. I’m stuck with this.

Dust seems to be the culprit
Not much that I can do
I wear a mask, I clean the blinds
And, take off my street shoes.

You’ve got to  keep  the bugs away
Do anything you can
And,  be aware of dusty vents
When you turn on that fan.

  1. I’m in Tucson and am on my second box of Kleenex since Wednesday. My daughter and her family are in Fort Riley, Kansas… same thing. Even my three-month-old grandson is sneezing, and they got rid of all their carpeting AND bought an air purifier last year.

Dare I say that it just seems worse this year and technically, it isn’t even Spring yet?
