Puzzled

Can you imagine how puzzled I was
When I learned they had voted in Trump?
I thought that I had lost my mind
I fell into a serious slump.

It hasn’t gotten any better since then
He’s becoming a disruptive force
After turning everything upside down
He retreats to his private golf course.

Caught in the act of obstructing justice
He should be impeached and then off to jail
Why should he be exempt from the law
His agenda is destined to fail.

A racist, a thief, an outright xenophobe
Is he really the president of this United States?
How could this have happened to any of us?
We’re now a country of prejudice and hate.

Impeach this lunatic, then imprison him
Take all of his cabinet down
We’ve got to get this country back on track
By getting rid of this cruel hateful clown.

Why must we do it with the lights on?
Can’t you see it hurts my eyes?
Perhaps I’m photosensitive
I know I’m not just shy.

Why I have done it on a table top
On the beach and in the back of a car.
I bet if you’d just dim those lights,
You’d be impressed with me, by far.

Maybe we should try it in the bathtub
With some candles burning bright
Perhaps you’d think it was midday
And the mood would be just right.

For me, I might prefer a blindfold
A little prop to induce the mood
Maybe then I’d think it was midnight
As you gazed upon me nude.

Why must we do it with the lights on?
Because it’s your bed, your house, your way.
And me? I’m too submissive,
Have to do just what you say.

Profuse

She was so ill mannered
Used profuse offensive slang
She spent time with criminals
Was a member of a gang.

She was only 12 years old
Too young to cuss and smoke
No chance to go to college
Spent her days out smoking dope.

Her mother was a prostitute
Her dad a known crack head
Who knew what became of him?
They figured he was dead.

She hung out at the playground
With an older crowd
She had tattoos and piercings
It made her feel so proud.

She wore a red bandana
Trimmed in navy blue
Those were her gang’s colors
They told her what to do.

Gang banging ….her initiation
She was scared but went along
She had to prove her loyalty
She needed to belong.

Cutting her known past time
She had scars on both her arms
One six-inch scar on her right wrist
Should’a sounded an alarm.

Her teacher saw the evidence
Signs of neglect and child abuse
She tried to get close to her
She could see she was confused.

She finally was arrested
Tried as a juvenile
There was no getting thru to her
When sentenced she just smiled.

A product of the system
Always looking for a fight
No matter what she tried to do
It never turned out right.

One day a social worker
After weeks of one on one
Saw a different side of her
A relationship had begun.

All she needed was that someone
Just one person she could trust
It made all the difference
Helped her change and to adjust.

She’s now happily married
She has two daughters of her own
She left behind a troubled past
And the life that she’d once known.

I’m afraid that I believe,
That I am not the one you need
And I’m afraid I have to say,
It’s time. It’s over.

As you stand before me now
I want to try, but don’t know how
I’m afraid there’s just no way
To stay. It’s over.

How can I look you in the eyes
Watch you grieve, then say goodbye?
When all you’re askings, for the chance
To start all over.

Let me hold you, in my arms
Pretend you’re mine, keep you from harm
It’s not so much to ask of me
To do it over.

So little time, we have to share
They’ll come a time when I’m not there
You’ll have to learn to be alone
Once it’s all over.

Please find the strength to let me go
You know it’s hard, I can’t say no
Don’t spend our lifetime letting go
Please say, it’s over.

We’re all the same

For you to blame.

Time will be up
Time to cash out
It’s then that you’ll ask
What your life’s about.

By then it will be
Too late to change course
No time for regrets
Just painful remorse.

Close your eyes
As you go to sleep
The conveyor of dreams
Will draw from the deep.

All your desires
Secrets within
Will come all at once
The dreaming begins.

Crystals and gem stones
Appear before you
Whimsical and fanciful
Thier brilliance, their hue.

Falling from heaven
Glitter and gold
She tells you a story
That’s never been told.

Magical fairies
And hobbits appear
All of your fantasies
No reasons to fear.

Unicorns
Gnomes, mermaids and more
Will gather before you
From oceans to shore.

When you awake
And open your eyes
You will remember
And start to cry.

Missing the magic
The fantasies too
Conveyed by the angel
From heaven to you.

Fanciful and unattainable

Candle wax is dripping
The wine is being poured
The trap was set so artfully
Who could have known, I could be lured.

I will never be the same
The damage has been done
I am drained and broken

For me an inconvenience

Whatever’s about to happen
You can bet it will be bad
No way that it can turn out right
It’s sure to make her sad.

Overwhelmed with deep emotion
Doom and gloom not far from here
Her glass is always empty
And, the end is very near.

No way to try and talk her down
She lives out on the edge
Fearful of the outcome
Of falling off the ledge.

Time wasted in this state of mind
She’s paralyzed and numb.
If only she could see for once
A mere positive outcome.

Cavity

Well below the margin
Of truth and sanity
Lies an empty space
A deep and dark cavity.

A place where fear resides
Where reason implodes
Where you feel alone
Your secrets exposed.

No cover or shelter
Stripped of your pride
Barren and cold
So shallow inside.

No walls to protect you
No mask to disguise
The weakness and fears
You’ve kept deep inside.

Crying out to be heard
Frightened and scared
No one to protect you
No one really cares.

Left on your own
With promises broken
Echoing words
Unmercifully spoken.

Overcome by heartache
Overwhelmed with sadness
There’s got to be
An end to this madness.

I found it to be
