CHASING FAME

Just like all the others
You came on way too strong
No second thoughts about it
New motivation for a  song.

The heat, the fire between us
You wanted so much more
Should‘a known, been aware
When you knocked on my door.

All of the attention
The cameras and  videos
The spotlight, the visibility
The Paparazzi that come and go.

The smiles, the clothes, the poses
I was the key to get you in
You schmoozed all my connections
Got to know all of my friends.

They were quick to get your number
They called the ball on you
They couldn’t help but notice
You had a plan, knew what to do.

The publicity around  me
It was sure to bring you fame
Desperate to be seen and heard
But, no one knew your name.

Down this road a few times
With someone else  like you
Someone young and beautiful
With long hair and high heels, too!

My MO is a give away
Need to learn from my mistakes
My bandmates saw right thru you
But, I’m afraid it was too late.

Glad you signed a non-disclosure
My agent did insist
My Manager was so concerned
Afraid you might resist.

Take this check and all the jewelry
Everything I gave to you
Pack your bags, here’s your ticket
You’ll be leaving on JetBlue.

  1. The poem is so heartfelt, Patty … I could almost feel the pain.

I read Jim’s comment about the “Detroit Trailer” and I thought, “Huh? What’s that? What am I missing?” And then I looked on the right-hand side of the screen and saw it, so I watched … WOW, Patty! Just WOW. That is an awesome job … my heart was racing by the time I reached the end. You made that? I’m impressed, my friend!

      1. Very impressive trailer … I will try to find the film in its entirety soon.

Oh Patty! Yes, I did receive your email and have it flagged to answer soon, I just haven’t done so yet. I’m so sorry! I need more hours in my days! I promise to answer later today … thank you for your patience!
