Abrupt

Such an abrupt disruption of democracy
Out of nowhere, he appears
Brandishing hate, dishonor, and disgrace
Doing what he can to foster fear.

Where are our protocols of honor and pride?
Our standards, thrown by the wayside
Lies become the legitimacy of our institutions
And he adored, though he’s cheated and he lies.

How do we come back, unscathed and unaffected?
Will we ever recover from the damage he’s done?
Can we clean off the dirt and the grease
The filth, the stench, and scum?

The darkness and pure evil
A new concept in exploitation
Everything about this crisis
Leads to destruction of our nation.

Come join us for a beach day
Bring your chair and suntan lotion
We’ll supply the umbrella,
Cold drinks and the blue ocean.

Let’s build a magic sand castle
With tunnels and a moat
We have lots of water toys
and lots of rubber floats.

Let’s look for shells upon the shore
Let’s walk along the beach
We’ll try and catch some sand crabs
Scampering just “outta” reach.

Watch the sailboats in the distance
The surfers riding on the waves
Watching out for mermaids
The pirates and their knaves.

Swimming in the water
Beware of sharks and man of war
Jellyfish and octopus
That swim too close to shore.

Let’s play catch in the sun
We have frisbees and colored rings
We tried to bring what we could
We brought most everything.

For lunch we’ll serve P & J
On white bread and on wheat
They’ll be chips and cookies too
There’s always lots of treats.

Relax , let go, enjoy the day
You deserve a break
Forget your worries and the stress
Have fun for goodness sake.

Astonish

He will astonish and amaze you
With his wit, intellect and charm
He will not insist or impose on you
No need to twist your arm.

He will dazzle and amaze you
He has a winsome smile and grin
He doesn’t have to coherce you
You will want to follow him.

The perfect boss or leader
Wish we all could feel this way
Hanging on his every word
Glued to the words he’d say.

So much can be accomplished
With a positive attitude
No need to feel oppressed and down
No place for servitude.

He will inspire and motivate you
Help you to see the light
To be the best that you can be
To try and do what’s right.

Let your day begin with optimism
Put a smile upon your face
He’ll encourage you to live your life
With gratitude and grace.

Don’t feel much like cleaning
But we’re having company today
I have to get busy, hurry up
Prepare the serving trays.

I have to scrub the bathrooms
Down on my knees to clean the floors
There are so many things to do
I have a million chores.

Wipe the counters, clean out the fridge
Throw the garbage in the trash
Sweep and dust, don’t make a fuss
I have so many tasks.

Put books away and papers, too
Don’t forget the magazines
Everything has to look its best
It needs to be spanking clean.

Cheese and crackers, a pot of tea
Some cake with icing just for fun
Can’t wait till I’m thru with cleaning up
Can’t wait till it’s all done.

Tantrum

He threw a temper tantrum,
when he didn’t get his way
No one ever stopped him,
There was little you could say.

He would stamp his feet, pound his fist
Scream and cry fake tears
If you were in the area
Better cover up your ears.

He was a brat, a noted bully
A selfish spoiled only child
He would run around in circles
He simply went hog wild.

At the store or at home
On the beach or even church
He brought attention to himself
He was the very worst.

Everyone gave in to him
They knew what he would do
He’d scream and shout, he’d carry on
He’d direct his rage at you.

One day his world came crashing down
His behavior stopped cold turkey
People stopped staring and caring about him,
His fits of rage and worry.

Ignoring him seemed to work
Seemed to lessen so much tension
We finally realized what he needed most
Was approval, love and attention.

Why doesn’t Cohen get it?
Trump doesn’t give a damn
He has no love or loyalty
Or feelings for this man.

He’d sell him down the river
Push him gladly off a cliff
It’s all about what suits him
He denies what Cohen did.

Wants to keep his distance
Staying far away from him
Claims that he is innocent
Cohen’s future looks quite grim.

Stormy’s lawyer is quite cagey
He knows just what to do
He’ll get Cohen on the stand
Then he’ll have to tell the truth.

Trump lies, distorts and alters
The stories that he tells
He’s made a pact with the devil
He belongs with him in hell.

Come on, “rivulet”?
Are you serious?

The prompt’s suppose to help us
Stimulate our creative flow
This word’s not doing anything
And surely needs to go.

Tired of words so boring
They annoy and aggravate

Notable

A notable occurrence
Had nearly passed me by
I wasn’t paying much attention
Then all at once she caught my eye.

She was slender, quite appealing
In her scarf and light blue dress
I was hoping she didn’t see me
I looked like such a mess.

I hadn’t bathed, I looked a sight
I wasn’t feeling right
I just got home from working out
I’d been up so late at night.

We lived near one another
Down the hall on the same floor
Right in the same old building
Practically, living right next door.

Why had I never noticed?
She was awfully sweet and kind
Was a mystery of the ages
I was wishing she was mine.

I asked her out for coffee
Remarkably she said, “yes”
We sat and talked for hours
I was smitten, so obsessed.

I called her in the morning
We met for breakfast half past ten
I asked her out that evening
We got together once again.

I wasn’t out to stalk her
She was feeling the same way
We had finally found each other
And had bonded the same day.

Cur

“The term cur refers to the lowest class of nameless dog or pariah dog, generally a mixed-breed dog.”

When thinking of the lowest of low
The word “Cur” does come to mind
But in an effort to not insult the dog
I feel it’s safe to reference “Trump” this time.

I can’t think of a human being lower
One who is as vile and without honor or pride
The man is less than an amoeba
He has no value and no heart inside.

He has taken the best of our country
And made them into laughable fools
He is destroying this nation piece by piece
By ignoring our institutions and rules.

He thinks our democracy is nothing more
Than a commodity up for sale
But the bitter truth will soon win out
He will ultimately end up in jail.
