Out on the streets
Part of the crowd
The shouting, the threats
The noise is so loud!
Bullet proof vests
Helmets and clubs
Smoke bombs and pellets
They’re calling us, “thugs”.
Carrying flags
Carrying signs
Marching for justice
Standing in line.
Police spraying gas
Random, unhinged
Can’t stop the conflict
The panic begins.
The right to assemble
To protest and gather
To speak out for justice
Has brought us together.
The loss of life
The dirt on their sleeves
They stood there and watched
When George could not breathe.
Protect and Serve
Not kill and destroy
Unarmed black men
And defenseless young boys.
We march for justice
It’s crystal clear
The time for change
Has come……it’s here.
