WE’RE BREAKING UP

Let’s stop and get some coffee
Have a cup or two
I have to tell you something
I’m breaking up with you.

I’m tired of all the fighting
The tension and the moods
Let’s face it… we’re not meant to be
I’m sick and tired of you.

Your constant,  chronic complaining
Your incessant whining and greed
You don’t know the meaning of sharing
You don’t know the meaning of clean.

You never take out the garbage
You lay around all day
You use  every excuse under the sun
Never listen to what I say.

You’d rather watch some cartoons
Than share a romantic evening at home
You spend most of your day playing video games
You just want to be left alone.

Find a girl that’s into football
Someone else who’ll serve your wings
Someone into hotdogs and  chips
Sloppy Joes and fried onion rings.

I’m tired of fast food and nachos
Pizza for dinner and your snacks
I’m going to leave you for good,  this time
I won’t be coming back.

A STATE OF EMERGENCY

We need to declare an emergency
Trump is out of control
Stop him please,  before it’s too late
He’s going to destroy us all.

You may not like his manners
He is crass and he is crude
He is selfish and narcissistic
He’ll never change his attitude.

He has crippled our economy
By shutting down our government
His petty, temper tantrum
A display of his incompetence.

His focus on wanting to build a wall
Anything to satisfy  his base
Shows clearly that he will do anything
He is desperate to save face.

We are a crippled ship floating adrift
Just waiting to be attacked
The whole world is watching
And no one’s got our back.

He’s insulted our friends and allies
He’s cavorting with our enemies
Our country is not safe or secure
He’s put us all in jeopardy.

Impeach, indict , imprison
Before it is too late
He’s got to be stopped in his tracks
All he knows is power and hate.

Declaring a National Emergency
For him to build a wall
Should be the last mistake he will make
That sadly will effect us all.

This is  not…. republican versus democrat
We have a mad man at the helm
He needs to be stopped, removed at once
We need to  get rid of him!

A CHARMER

I’m feeling so angry
I just want to spit
He dumped me for Shelia
That cruel,  cunning witch!

I gave him my best years
My car and my youth
I can’t believe
What he set out to do.

I saved for an Audi
An A6, not a 4
Now he walks out on me
He walks out the door.

My car and vacation
Were all paid in full
I gave him the green light
I’ve been such a fool.

Give me a Venti
With two shots of expresso
I need to regain
My strength and my Mojo.

Never again,
Will this happen to me
I’ll never get married
Just you wait and see!

He conned me, he fast talked
He was charming and vain
Now I sit here alone
I’m going insane.

Never fall for a charmer
For a sweet talking guy
Cause everything they say
Is an out and out lie.

HE WAS THE ONE

He stared at me for quite awhile
Those soft grey eyes, that winsome smile
An attractive guy sitting all alone
With a cup of tea and an English scone

Wearing black Levis and a black t-shirt
I’m assuming he was off from work.
He sat at a table all alone
Across the room, I was checking my phone.

When I got up, so did he
He made his way and followed me
Said he was leaving and didn’t have time
But, gave me his number, then I gave him mine.

Two days later he contacted me
We met for coffee,  I ordered tea.
He was soft spoken and very polite
We went to a movie, that very same night.

A chance meeting at a local cafe
He walked me home, his name was Ray
I had a feeling he was the one
He had long brown hair and a cute man bun.

MY TURN

So down and depressed
I walked in alone
Walked up to the counter
Holding onto my phone.

A Caramel Macchiato
Hot please, not cold
I was feeling devastated
I was feeling really old.

Another breakup
Another mistake
When will I learn?
How long will it take?

It started off great
We made love  for hours
But, like all the others
There’s no candy or flowers.

Where does it go wrong?
Why doesn’t it last?
Didn’t share too much
Of my weak, sordid past.

Light and easy
I set the tone
Then why am I sitting
Here, sadly  alone?

Try as I may
To restrain my need
They still see me hurting
They still see me bleed.

I don’t act insecure
Not too frightened or scared
But something goes wrong
This just isn’t fair.

The clock is ticking
The years passing me by
My friends are all married
I keep asking …. why?

When will it be my turn?
Am I destined to be
Alone at the party
Sitting there quietly?

I powder my nose
I get my hair done
I try and seem happy
I try to have  fun.

But, In the end
I sit here alone
Drinking my coffee
Playing games on my phone.

HARRY

Sitting with friends
Sharing a brew
Not just one cup
I’ve had a few.

Fully caffeinated
Buzzed and flying high
I said , “Hello”
When you passed me by.

You wore round,  rimmed  eyeglasses
Your hair… a bit  long
Your friends called you , “Harry”
You looked handsome and strong.

Your t-shirt and shorts
Fit you perfectly
I sat near your table
You weren’t too far from me.

I eavesdropped from a distance
I had caught your eye
Your friends encouraged you
So happy… I could cry.

You walked over and introduced yourself
Wondered if I was free
To join you on friday
“Would you have coffee with me?”

We dated for about a year
Got married in the fall
There’s nothing I would ever change
With you I have it all.

OLIVE

Olive lived just down the street
Not very far from the ocean and beach
She spent her days mostly alone
She liked quiet time…time on her own.

She liked to paint, she liked to sing
She enjoyed talking about anything.
She liked to whistle, she played the flute
She was never bored,  always something to do.

Her house was small and rather eclectic
The pace she maintained was never hectic
She had beaded doors and lots of dream catchers
Several  chimes and an array of  feathers.

She played woodland music with waterfalls
She had fountains everywhere, for  nature called
Birds were heard chirping, lions roared
I wondered what the all the jars were for.

I later learned,  she made strawberry jam
Cared for  the animals and wouldn’t eat ham
She wore hippie attire, flip flops and  hats
She took care of the strays,  the dogs and the cats.

She burned incense and candles throughout the day
Her home was inviting, you wanted to stay
The setting  so comfortable,  you felt  so relaxed
You hoped you’d be welcome, you hoped you’d be back.

REHAB

Why leave me here
All by myself?
Can’t walk the halls
Cry out for help.

I’m not that strong
They make a fuss.
I make them angry
It’s  strenuous.

My legs can’t move
Can’t walk at all
I’m so scared
I’m going to fall.

They say I’m weak,
Tell me  to try
They keep pushing
I start to cry.

I am so tired
Can’t fall asleep
In such pain
I moan and weep.

I hear voices
In the night
I am afraid
They shut the light.

I lay here frightened
Confused, alone
Wanting you
To take me home.

The smell of food
The  scrambled eggs
The tray is cold
For goodness sakes.

A cup of coffee
No flavored cream
I feel like I
Am in a dream.

Breakfast served
Orange Juice and scones
I miss my wife
I miss my home.

Now old and weak
I have no choice
They speak for me
I have no voice.

Do what they say
It’s best for you
But,  I am scared
So sad, so  blue.

Please hold my hand
I’m all alone
Don’t leave me here
Please take me home.

HAPPY NEW YEAR (re-blog)

A new start, a new beginning…
A time for peace, a time for forgiving.
Open the door, let go and be free
The weight will be lifted, it’s time to believe.

Shed all of the old burdening feelings
Of anger and pain, begin to start healing.
Life is short, a mere fleeting moment
Rejoice and enjoy, the bliss of atonement.

Holding a grudge, casting blame
Will only bring heartache, will only bring shame.
Open your heart, open your arms
Step into the sunlight, away from the storm.

Farewell to the bludgeoning, cruelty and crazies
A New Year begins, a chance to show mercy.
To those who deserve it, to those who may not
Give all that you can, and all that you’ve got.

Banish the demons, shed the black clouds
Open your heart, remove the dark shroud.
The New Year is here, a new day beginning
It’s a time for peace, a time for forgiving.

MAKE A WISH

While playing by the water
I found a magic shell
It was one of a kind
As far as I could tell.

I was digging all around
With my shovel in my hand
I loved to dig and to play
In the warm and gritty sand.

It was a small , smooth,  little shell
About the size of a quarter
I planned to take it home
I washed it off in salty water.

I put it in my striped beach bag
Then put it on the table
I put it in my pocket
It didn’t need a special label.

Before, I went to bed
I held it in my hand
I made a wish and there appeared
A creature they called, Dan.

“Hello there, Little Boy”!
“Who are you?” , I asked with wonder.
“Who are you?”,  he replied.
Suddenly,?I heard some thunder.

“Okay, yes you did”, he gently said.
“My name is DAN.  And , you are?”
“I’m Theodore”!
“ So, what did you call me for, Theodore?”

“I didn’t call you, said the boy
I closed my eyes and made a wish,
And you appeared before me. in my mind you were a fish.

But, are you a genie?”, asked the boy.
“No, I don’t have a bottle.
I travel thru space….from above
I fly!  I never waddle!

It’s quite sandy, where I’m from
Sorry for the mess.
See the sand upon the floor?
“I do. I see it… I see it , yes”!

My mom will pick it up.
She’s always  cleaning the floor.
She’ll get out the broom
That’s what it’s used for”!

“It’s just a little bit.
She probably won’t mind.
“I’ll try to be more careful!
More careful the next time”

“So what would you like?
I’m here to grant a wish!
One special request ….i
What’s the first thing  on your list?”

“Okay, let me think!  I know….
How about a visitor from outerspace?
A martian, a creature
From a strange andcdifferent place?”

“Why your wish has already been granted!
I’m from the planet TAN
It’s light years away from here
And,  it’s covered with lots of sand”!

The boy became very excited
He was with an alien
They chatted for several hours
Before, he finally had given in.

He was getting very sleepy
He put his head down, then closed his eyes.
Just before falling asleep,
He heard Dan quietly say, “  Goodbye”.

His mom came into his room that morning
He told her about his visitor
His mom said it was just a dream
Then he did his best to prove it to her.

He was here!  He really was!
He left some sand upon the floor.
Look over there upon the floor
See the sand right by the door?

“I guess you’re right “ she said
And quickly got her broom.
She played along with Theodore
Then swept the sand out of his room.

Maybe it was just a dream
Maybe the alien wasn’t real
But Theodore didn’t really care
He liked the way it made him feel.

So every night before he slept
He’d dream about his friend, Dan
And sure enough, when he woke up guy
On the floor ….he’d find some sand.
