You looked so damn amazing
I was easily pulled in
You had this way about you
Didn’t want the night to end.

You wrapped your arms around me
Then whispered in my ear
“Come on baby …. Come with me
Let’s get out of here.”

We went home to your place 
In the city…. second floor
You had your own apartment
You closed and locked the door.

You brought me to your bedroom
There was magic in the air
I was shaking ….. just a little
I was nervous ….. I was scared.

I felt like I was in a dream
Never felt this way before
Your touch .. your hands all over me
You said you wanted more.

The thrill of pure elation
As you looked into my eyes
The heightened sense of pleasure
I felt like I was high.

After you had …. had enough
You said …. “You have to leave!”
There was no kindness in your voice
It was hard …. hard to believe.

I got dressed …. walked out the door
Feeling hurt and so confused
You didn’t want me near you, now
I had in fact…. been used.

I saw you two weeks later
At the club with someone new
I knew what she was feeling
Knew what you planned to do.

Like a spider weaves his web
You were leading her astray
She was a willing victim
Who’d get used …. then sent away.

One massive error, one mistake
One I’ll never make again.

Don’t care what you’ve been doing
Don’t really want to know
Don’t want to be where you are
Anywhere you plan to go.

So sorry that I met you
Really wish I could forget
The moment and encounter
The night that we first met.

The memories still linger
They live inside my head
You held me in your arms
All those late nights in your bed.

Feeling so embarrassed
I really must confess
Wish I had known better
Wish I knew what would come next.

You were just the wrong one
If only I had the known
Should’ve seen the future
Wish I knew and headed home.

I was left in the dust
Forgotten and ignored
You were so distracted… 
I could see that you were bored.

She had a sweet, young, pretty face
Like a shiny brand new coin
I knew for sure, what you would do
Knew what was going on.

I looked away, was petrified
I didn’t want to cry
But, so tired of your excuses
Such shameful …dreadful lies. 

You packed your bags, grabbed your coat
Took all of your precious things 
You walked out , you closed the door
I never saw you, ever again!

I sat alone, in our bedroom
I cried for weeks and weeks
I whined a bit, I carried on 
And then, dealt with my grief.

Years have passed, so long ago
Since the day that you moved on
I know that I am better off
I’m better off alone.

Don’t want to start remembering
Wish I could just forget
The first time that I saw you
The night …. when we first met.

Filled with longing and emotion
Consumed with pure desire
The power of such passion
My heart was set on fire.

You came over … started talking
I fell hard for your sweet charm
I felt so weak …so damn naive
So shamefully dis-armed.

Unable to think clearly
You got inside my head
Wish I had known better
And stayed home that night …. instead.

Defenseless ….. suddenly unhinged
Couldn’t keep my head on straight
My thoughts and feelings scrambled
By this time, it was too late.

Should have never… had that second drink
I let you get to me
You took my hand…. then whispered
“Come home, come home with me.”

A lark …. A memory
No feelings of guilt or remorse
For what you did to me.

Not trying to conceal …. or hide
You removed the plastic shroud
I heard you laugh ….  as you left
I heard you laugh out loud. 

I’d been played … it was a joke
The joke that broke my heart
Felt like a poisoned arrow
Had ripped my chest apart.

The pain was unimaginable
Bore through my heart and soul
Left a smoldering  blackened path
A deep and empty hole.

You knew what you were doing
When you came on to me
You had a simple plan in mind
A means …. a strategy.

Now I’m left with regret
A loss ….  too much to bear
Having to face the bitter truth
That you never  …. really cared.

You walked out on me.

I cried and cried ….  I’m still crying
Hard to believe it’s true
I fell so hard ….  so incredibly hard
So deeply in love with you.

I’ve been betrayed ….tricked and cajoled
You are the grand magician
Charming …. charismatic ….  manipulative 
The Master of Deception.

You had a plan …. you led me on
Once sure that I had fallen
You knew it would be easy for you
I was so easily forgotten.

Just passing through …. taking what you can
Feelings come and go
I didn’t see it …. so unexpected
No clue …. I didn’t know.

The stars and the moon
Fell from the sky
It all fell apart
Before my eyes.

Unable to bargain
To change your mind
Realizing now
You’re no longer mine.

You hold her hand
Kiss her good night
Tell her you love her
While holding her tight.

No second chances
No way to save face
You disappeared
You made your escape.

Tickets for two
One seat left empty
I had no clue
That you planned to leave me.

The moon and the stars
Fell from the sky
It all fell apart
Before my eyes.

All of our friends
Now picking sides
Wondering why 
We didn’t try.

Feeling betrayed
Lost and alone
Facing the truth
You’re not coming home.

Please tell me
What is wrong with you
You can’t possibly condone
The rights of the Q.

Conspiracy theorists 
The KKK
Proud Boys and Nazi’s
Are hardly okay.

Led to slaughter
Willingly fed
Hate and vengeance
The things that Trump says.

Where is your honor?
Your morality?
What were you thinking
When you signed on to be

A pawn and a cultist
A fool and a smuck?
Donald’s soon to be
Fresh out of luck.

No federal charges
Now seem to stick
But the NY State’s attorney
Is tired of his tricks.

He always skates
He’s never accountable
Soon to be jailed
Because he’s responsible.

Stand up for justice 
Not force and might
Storming the Capitol
Just wasn’t right.

Lives have been lost
We were clearly violated
Incited and prompted
So carefully calculated.

Democracy now
Hangs by a thread
As Tump leads the charge
Resulting in death.

Come to your senses
Denounce Q anon
You know it is evil
You know it is wrong!

Beware of broken glass
Don’t try so hard …. pull over
You’re going way too fast.

The cards are on the table
The writing’s on the wall
Watch your step …. be cautious
You might  slip or you could fall.

You need to heed the warnings
Observe the caution lights
You’re swimming in the deep end
It’s never safe at night.

Yellow lights are blinking
You need a safety net
It’s time to take precautions
Wear your helmet …. don’t forget.

Don’t linger…. they are watching
They have cameras in the air
Keep up the pace …. don’t falter
Even though you’re feeling scared.

In the twilight of the evening
When the sun is going down
You will find a place of solace
As you lay your body down.

In the early morning hours
Hear the birds high in the trees
They  will beckon you to wake up
Just before it’s time to leave.

It’s been a tiresome journey
One you had to make alone
But once you cross the meadow 
You’ll be there …. you will be home.

Doesn’t matter what I say
You have your own agenda
You tell the same old stories twice
Because you don’t remember.

Not interested in anything
Unless it pertains to you
Can’t stay focused very long
“Have to go… there’s lots to do!” 

I wish we could be closer
But that can never happen
Whatever I tell you today
By tomorrow is forgotten.

So easily distracted
By a brand new shiny object
Often displaced … lost and obscured
Left forgotten….in your pocket.

I try my best to engage
I try hard to reconnect
But you’re not really interested
Cause …. there’s someone you just met.

She’s got your attention
Heard she moved in right next door
You think …. she is amazing
She’s someone you adore.

Before long …. you’ll get tired
You’ll look for someone new
Hopefully by then …. I will
I will be over you.
