IN MY HEART

The blistering heat
The clouds rolling in
A storm is brewing
It’s going to rain again.

I sit by the window
Look out at the garden
Missing her more
My angel, my guardian.

Each day passes by
I try to remember
The sound of her voice
And my memories of her.

I look in the mirror
I’m beginning to see
A resemblance there
Her reflection in me.

More and more like her
My preferences change
My choices in everything
Her essence remains.

But can’t pick up the phone
To ask her a question
When I need her advice
Hard to fight this depression.

The fun that we had
The laughter… the love
The silly remarks
I can’t stop thinking of.

The days pass me by
She’s been gone a long time
But her memory lingers
In my heart, in my mind.

FEELS REALLY GOOD

You’re not used to someone
Holding the door
Paying you compliments
Not looking for more.

So sweet and so thoughtful
He’s honest and true
It all feels so different
So different for you.

He’s gentle, soft spoken
Not making demands
So easy, so laid back
Such a kind, loving man.

So used to abuse
Harsh words and put downs
But this guy is different
He’s not playing around.

It’s not hard, it’s so easy
To spend time with him
No tension, no drama
And, that sweet boyish grin.

You feel so relaxed
Your defenses let down
No reason to worry
When he is around.

Feeling secure
When he holds your hand
It feels really good
To know he understands.

Hoping and praying
This feeling can last
Let go of the heartache
Let go of the past.

MAGIC IN THE FOREST

Let your imagination soar
To heights beyond compare
Let your thoughts drift away
Let them take you there.

There is magic in the forest
There are creatures everywhere
There are fanciful adventures
If you’re willing, if you dare.

Dragon flies passing by
Fairies and unicorns
They have gathered all around us
Another duckling has been born.

The waterfall, the crystals
Sparkling in the sun
There’s room enough for everyone
To share a day of fun.

The birds on high… fly and sing
They sit upon the branches
They watch the ants march far below
While the willow gracefully dances.

Down on the ground a snake crawls by
A lizard and a toad
They make their way so carefully
To their safe and warm abode.

Night will fall before too long
Time to hurry getting there
They make their way across the field
They are careful, but not scared.

Anxious now to get back home
They wait for dawn’s daylight
They long for the warmth of sunshine
On this cold, damp, chilly night.

ANOTHER RAINY DAY

Another rainy day
Filled with muddy, cold, wet puddles
The day is passing by
The perfect time to hug and cuddle.

My kitty cats and puppies
Make their way onto the couch
They keep me safe… they keep me warm
Even Max, the old gray grouch.

The rain upon the roof top
Echoes softly through the cabin
The frogs outside are happy
Happier than we can imagine.

The birds are proudly singing
There is magic in the air
The beavers and their neighbors
Show their faces everywhere.

No thunder and no lightning
Just the smell of sweet, green grass
The forest creatures happy
Wish this day could somehow last.

I close my eyes for just a moment

I feel the warmth of the bright sun
It’s shining thru the window
Waking each and everyone.

Morning has arrived
No rain clouds appear in sight
It’s going to be a pretty day

The sun is shining bright.

A LINE IN THE SAND

Too many times
You turned on me
Though we had some fun
I was blind, didn’t see.

The trust isn’t there
It was shattered with lies
The question I ask
Is always just …why?

When it mattered the most
You were not there
You sat on your hands
You just didn’t care.

A line in the sand
There comes a point
When you have to decide
There’s no chance if you won’t.

No way to turn back
To turn back the clock
I’ve put up a wall
I’ve now got you blocked.

I’ll miss you it’s true
But the trust isn’t there
You should have tried harder
But you didn’t care.

You waited too long
You should have done what was right
You made the choice
Outta mind, outta sight.

BLATANT LIES

via Daily Prompt: Retrospective

Retrospective

A retrospective look
Brings back the memories
Still trying to digest
The things you did to me.

The blatant lies you told
My dreams have all been shattered
Nothing I could say
Ever really mattered.

You had your own life planned
I was there in passing
None of it was real
It had no chance of lasting.

You were using me
To satisfy a craving
You cast my love aside
No feelings meant for saving.

You walked out the door
Into another’s trusting arms
They didn’t stand a chance
Another victim of your charm.

A BROKEN HEART

via Daily Prompt: Broken

Broken

Reblogged….

Your name evokes an image
I wish I could wipe clean
Wish I could erase the memories
Wish you were just a dream.

Running from the nightmare
That you helped to create
I thought that I had fallen for
And found my true soul mate.

But, the devil wears disguises
Blonde hair and bright blue eyes
She can get inside you
She can make you cry.

The candlelight, the music
Helps to lure the innocent
Before you even know it
You’re a willing participant.

My heart is truly broken
I can’t get over you
I wish I had the answer
And knew just what to do.

Maybe I should see a doctor
I am hurting, can’t you see?
Need to stop the pain and agony
So deep inside of me.

Wading

Wading thru the muck and waste
My eyes are filled with tears
The water marred with brown sewage
The day of wreckening is here.

Corporate sludge, dumped each day
The fish, the mammals… dead
Greedy men with no conscience
Line their pockets, move ahead.

The beauty of the planet’s lost
It’s all about profit margins
They don’t care what becomes
Of the wildlife that is starving.

Strangled, loss of oxygen
Dying by the thousands
The fish float upon the surface
While they collect endowments.

Overthrow the men who rule
Take them out of office
Bring back the days of clean and green
Clean the water from our faucets.

Get a plan, take a stand
You have to get involved
Our voices must be loud and strong
To get this problem solved.

MEMORIAL DAY

Ceremony

PROMPT: CEREMONY

They will have a ceremony
They will raise their flags
They will salute to those who have made
The ultimate sacrifice.

Honor, duty and loyalty
They stand for what is right
Willing to do whatever it takes
They hold their ground and fight.

Don’t take freedom for granted
It comes with a hefty price
Many wounded, captured and/or tortured
So many have lost their lives.

We have parades and picnics
We celebrate their service
Men and women in uniform
With honor they serve to protect us.

WORK YOUR MAGIC

Please wave your magic wand
Erase the memories
Remove the thoughts and playbacks
That have a hold on me.

So interwined and tangled
Like twisted vines of weathered rope
They hold me tight, I can’t move
I’ve lost all sense of hope.

So long ago I faltered
I made some dumb mistakes
I can’t go back and change them
Why can’t I catch a break?

Consumed and over-taken
By a lingering dark cloud
It hangs right there above me
Like a web…. a dark gray shroud.

Please can’t you work your magic?
Please conjure up a spell
Take away the nightmares
Of this constant living hell?

Release me from this prison
I’m plagued with guilt and blame
We all deserve a second chance
To make things right again.
