MOODY

Moody people get to me
They always drive me crazy
They’re always complaining about “this or that”
Like a loud mouth whinny baby.

Cut it out, stop your whining
Stop spilling your misery onto me
I want to enjoy my life
So please just let me be.

Find a place where you can go
Where you can be alone
Stop making others miserable
Go off… be on your own.

Hormones, genes or lack of sleep
They have a million and one excuses
There’s too much noise it bothers them
“Turn down the stinken music”.

They are never happy
They’re never satisfied
The grass is always greener
Greener on the other side.

Take a hike, a long vacation
Somewhere far away from me
Please find a place you’ll be happier
Please go and let me be.

GOODBYE

via Daily Prompt: Core

Core

The loss of losing you
Like nothing I’ve felt before
The pain so deep inside
So deep down to my core.

I never will recover
There’s no getting over you
I’ll carry the hurt inside my soul
There’s nothing I can do.

No exorcist or voodoo, no spark
Or magic spell
Will ever bring you back to me
I live my life in hell.

The hurt so deep, it grieves me
To have to think of you
I feel so lost and empty
The love I feel…so true.

No memories, no thoughts of us
You left me in the dust
Along with all the love we knew
Left here to age and rust.

Like an old worn out toy
You’ve cast me aside
You turned and walked away from me
Last words…. a cold “goodbye”.

TAKE THE STAIRS

As you sit down on the porch
Do you really care
Which step you’re going to sit on?
You just sit upon the stairs.

Sitting on the stoop
Lends to conversation and deep thought
Friends may stop, as they walk by
They’ll stop to sit and talk.

A winding staircase and metal treads
Can give your house a different look
Steel beams and cable fasteners
Suspended with silver hooks.

Grand staircases of pageantry
An entry for the elite
Makes one feel like a princess
As they enter to meet and greet.

Fire escapes save many lives
Provide the thief with accessibility
Help the injured, filing down
The ones with serious injuries.

Running down a stairway
Quickly running to catch a train
Could prove to be an obstacle
When too many are doing the same.

Without an adequate staircase
How would we make the climb?
It would be pretty hard to do
To get up to your apartment or mine.

Let’s celebrate what we take for granted
Easy access and ease of movement
The stairs have been a means to an end
One of man’s significant achievements.

DEATH

Some days I wait for death to come
To come for me and quickly
Some days I welcome his cold, dark hands
Wanting him to come and take me.

That day will come… it’s inevitable
There is no escaping destiny
Try as you may to ward it off
Death waits for you patiently.

Some egg it on, they prod and poke
Wondering if it makes a difference
Riding too fast, not doing things right
Will it encourage death’s appearance?

The worst of us, the crankiest
Seem to live the longest
Being rude, nasty and cruel
Doesn’t enhance death’s visit upon us.

So live your life and don’t worry about
Your last fateful, dying day
The day when death will finally come
To take your life away.

SADLY

Sadly he stood and watched the door
Hoping it would open
But the words that he had waited for
Were simply never spoken.

Tears of sadness filled his eyes
He thought she would return
But he never saw her ever again
Her bridges now were burned.

She had found herself a new love
She no longer really cared
She left him there all by himself
She left him waiting there.

Someone else had filled the void
Gave her what she had needed
Rejected, stripped and shattered now
His heart broken and bleeding.

Time heals all wounds they say
But his heart had never mended
It remained a deep and open wound
Since the love he knew had ended.

IMPEACH & IMPRISON

via Daily Prompt: Skewed

Skewed

The outcome was all wrong
The data had been skewed
No one… able to change it
No one knew what to do.

Stunned, perplexed, bewildered
A shocked look upon your face
You stood there paralyzed, horrified
As he walked off with the race.

A demon and a racist
He’s sitting in the oval office
There was no attempt to try and stop him
Now he appoints all of our bosses.

The country has gone mad
Thinks he’s the king and not our president
Someone, please do something
He’s settled in, it’s now his residence.

He’s got plans to make it permanent
Wants to rule like Kim Jong Un
The demise of our democracy
It has started …it’s begun.

It’s all about the money
He calls it tax reform
He’s taking from the poor
He’s causing pain and harm.

He has no honor, morals or character
He’s a shallow bully of a man
He lies and takes from anyone
He’ll cheat anyone he thinks he can.

The elderly….being evicted
From the safety of nursing homes
While he grants more tax breaks to the wealthy
They will be turned out on their own.

Wake up, take back your country
We have to take a stand
He has to be impeached and imprisoned
He’s an evil excuse of a man.

A MAGICAL DAY

via Daily Prompt: Forest

Forest

Deep within the forest
Lived a unicorn and a troll
The unicorn was a baby
And the troll…. not very old.

The troll and the unicorn
Were abandoned in the woods
Someone didn’t take the time
To love them like they should.

Thankfully a little boy
Out walking on his own
Came upon the two of them
And brought the two back home.

He hid them in his closet
They often slept under his bed
They were happy and carefree
And sometimes slept with him instead.

The three of them spent lots of time
Playing with his toys
They loved to play and sing to him
He was their very own sweet boy.

His parents were oblivious
Seldom came into his room
It became a magical abode
Filled with stories of baboons.

In time they got much bigger
It was time to take them back
He had to hide them from his parents
So he placed them in a sack.

Off they went on a journey
He followed the path… back the same way
Right back where he had found them
On that magical, special day.

They were sad at first to leave him
But in time they did adjust
He came back to be with them
Every Saturday, a must.

He rode upon the unicorn’s back
They traveled the hillsides together
The troll had built a woodland home
Made with stones, twigs and feathers.

He served tea and biscuits too
Jam and lots of berries
Often they had visitors
The gnomes, the dwarves and fairies.

Such fun to spend the day with them
Where the grass was deep and lush.
They all meant the world to him
He loved them all so much.

MICKEY’S WAITING

Come go with me
Let’s go to Disney
Let’s pack a bag
We’ll be so busy.

Some new attractions
Like Avatar
Takes us away
From where we are.

The ice cream bars
With Mickey ears
We come back
Year after year.

The princess’ palace
A grand castle
We’ll stay for hours
Never a hassle.

The trains, the boats
The magic times
The spectacles
We’ll all be fine.

We won’t get tired
We’ll feel so young
We’ll walk around
Out in the sun.

Grab your ears
And your backpack
We’ll drink our water
We’ll eat our snacks.

Get on the bus
We can’t be late
Mickey’s waiting
He’s at the gate.

NIGHT STALKER

Every night
She took a walk
She never thought
That she’d be stalked.

He watched her
From a dark place
She’d leave her house
He’d leave no trace.

In the shadows
Just out of sight
He watched her walk
Night after night.

He wanted her
He had a plan
He was a cold
A cold, cruel man.

He waited patiently
Near a garage
She walked right passed him
Just because.

He was reminded
They looked alike
She resembled
His hated wife.

It was so dark
No one could see
He was there hiding
Behind a tree.

He grabbed her quickly
From behind
Muffled her screams
There was no time.

Pulled her into
His dark, gray van
Overpowered
By a strong man.

He used a drug
To keep her quiet
It was the first time
That he had tried it.

When she awoke
Bound and gagged
It was all over
He placed a bag.

So snug and tight
She couldn’t breathe
Then took her body
Straight out to sea.

He had a boat
The night was clear
Just passed the bay
He left her there.

HE WALKED AWAY

via Daily Prompt: Rebel

Rebel

He was a rebel
He stood his ground
He resisted
Wouldn’t wear the crown.

He walked away
From money and fame
Told his parents
To keep their name.

Made his own way
Took to the road
Wouldn’t listen
To what he was told.

Was his own man
Didn’t answer to
Anyone…who
Told him what to do.

Had two children
Who were honorable
So accomplished
And unstoppable.

They made a difference
In the life of others
Had respect for
Their dad and mother.

No compromise
He lived his life
Stood for honor
And loved his wife.

Though a rebel
Has earned respect
He’d be remembered
They won’t forget.
